Railway DIG continues to absent from be duty
Patna, Aug 21 (UNI) DIG Railways Ajay Verma, evading his arrest following issuance of a Non Bailable Warrant(NBW), continued to remain absent from his duty.
Official sources here today said the home department was clueless about the DIG who till last evening had not sent his leave application to his immediate boss, while on the other hand it was learnt that the DIG had sent a letter with a copy of leave application to the state DGP, Advocate General, IG railways, Principal secretary to the Chief Minister and ADG headquarters.
However, the letter of the DIG had not been received till last evening.
Meanwhile, a search operation for the DIG had been intensified under which his residence was raided. However, the police could not succeed in nabbing the officer. Raids were also carried out at residence of relatives and friends of Mr Verma in connection with a criminal case.
Earlier, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Hajipur Ramsaran Sia Singh had issued an NBW against the DIG on August 17. The court had also issued an NBW against Ravindra Giriyak, counsel of Mr Verma.
As per the case, Rajendra Rai, a retired principal of government high school of Hajipur, had, on January 24, 2006, lodged a criminal case against the DIG and his wife.
