Railway DIG absent from his duty
Patna, Aug 21 (UNI) DIG Railways Ajay Verma running to evade his arrest following issuance of a Non Bailable Warrant(NBW), continuous to remain absent from his duty.
Official sources said here today that the home department was clueless about the DIG who till Sunday evening had not sent his leave application to his immediate boss, while on the other hand it is learnt that the DIG in question had sent a letter with a copy of leave application to the state DGP, Advocate General, IG railways, Principal secretary to the Chief Minister and ADG headquarters.
Interestingly the letter of the DIG had not been received till Sunday evening, it is learnt.
Meanwhile, search operation for the DIG had been intensified under which his residence was raided. However, the police could not succeed in nabbing the officer. Raids were also carried out at residence of relatives and friends of Mr Verma in connection with a criminal case.
Earlier, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Hajipur Ramsaran Sia Singh following a prayer of the police had issued the NBW against the DIG on August 17. The court had also issued the NBW against Ravindra Giriyak, counsel of Mr Verma.
As per the case, a retired principal of government high school of Hajipur Rajendra Rai had on January 24, 2006 lodged a criminal case against the DIG and his wife. In the supervision report Tirhut range Inspector General Sunit Kumar exempted the wife of Mr Verma.
