Patna Junction to get international station status: Lalu

Patna, Aug 21: Inspired by the systems at railway stations abroad, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has decided to develop Patna railway station as an international status station and also chalked out a plan for this.

Addressing a function at the railway station here yesterday, Mr Prasad informed a mammoth gathering about the proposed plan under which the existing construction would be totally dismantled for underground construction of the shopping complex.

He said trains would run on the surface, the marketing complex would be underground at each international status railway station.

He said railway was the cheapest mode of travel for the common man in the country.

The Minister said the Railways were all set to earn Rs 20,000 crore in the next financial year because of proper planning and utilisation of its resources.

He elaborated the safety measures being adopted at every important station and informed that the railways have decided to allow only bona fide passengers to enter the station premises.

He said closed-circuit TV would also be installed at Patna junction to step up security and to keep an eye on the activities of anti-social elements.
