No epidemic threat in Surat
Surat, Aug 21 (UNI) Chances of an epidemic outbreak in Surat is remote, according to special relief officer Guruprasad Mahapatra.
''We have sent samples of serums and fleas taken from here to National Institute of Communicable Diseases, New Delhi to check any presence of plague bacteria in them and all of them were tested negative'', Mr Mahapatra said.
He also said that the administration is taking all measures to disinfect the garbage which has been disposed in the various points of the city.
''We are using a phenol treatment in the disposed garbage and other disinfectants are also used to avoid any threat from the garbage disposal areas''.
He also said that the health department is conducting a special drive to prevent any epidemic in the wake of floods in the city.
