Maj Gen Bartwal to be new DGMI
New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Maj Gen D S Bartwal will take over as the new Director General of Military Intelligence.
''Maj Gen Bartwal, currently the Additional Director General, Infantry, will take over as the new DGMI,'' highly-placed army sources told UNI.
Commissioned into the Jat Regiment, Maj Gen Bartwal has held a number of important field and staff posts including command of a brigade in Jammu and Kashmir during the Kargil conflict and of a Re-organised Army Plains Infantry Division (RAPID).
Maj Gen Bartwal replaces Lt Gen D H Summanwar, who was last week sent on long leave following charges of using his position to facilitate shooting of a documentary by his wife on Army installations. His deputy, ADG MI(A) Maj Gen M S Dadwal had been officiating as DGMI since then.
