IT workshop in Gulbarga in October

Gulbarga, Aug 21 (UNI) In an attempt to make Gulbarga an Information Technology hub, an enthusiastic Non-Resident Indian IT professional will hold a workshop on IT here in October.

Talking to reporters here today, State Planning Board former Advisory member Sharan Desai said IT czars Wipro Chairman Azim Premji and Infosys Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy were expected to take part in the workshop.

Explaining his efforts to make the city the next IT destination, he said he was striving to achieve political will by meeting leaders of various parties, including Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly N Dharam Singh. While neighbouring Hyderabad was excelling in IT, Gulbarga remained backward, he noted.

Mr Desai appealed to the people's representatives to back his efforts and said that besides raising a hue and cry for amending Article 371 of the Constitution to develop the region, they should also explore opportunities to develop Gulbarga into an IT hub.

Lamenting that a large number of local IT experts migrated to others parts of the country, seeking jobs, he said ''we must make available services for IT professionals of the soil here itself.'' Growth of IT in the backward areas would help generate substantial job oportunities, he added.
