I am compassionate: AP CM
Hyderabad, Aug 21 (UNI) Denying partisanship in distribution of relief to flood-affected people, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asserted that he was very much compassionate'.
''Every day, 40 to 50 people come up for relief from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. I sanction funds to all those brought by MLAs, cutting across party lines'', about 20 to 30 lakh every day , he said while denying the charges that relief has not reached those villages where a majority of the people supported the TDP.
Dr Reddy said in a major relief to the poor people, who were not in a position to meet high medical expenses, the Government would come up with an health insurance scheme in two to three months.
Referring to children with heart problems, he said more than 5,500 such children were identified and over 4,400 underwent operations free of cost. The previous TDP Government had turned a blind eye to the plight of these unfortunate children, whose parents had been helpless, seeing the death of their beloved ones.
Earlier, replying to the debate on floods, Revenue Minister D Prasada Rao alleged that it was the TDP which had acted in a partisan manner in the past on grant of relief to villages affected by natural calamity.
