Filmmaker B R Chopra bereaved
Mumbai, Aug 21 (UNI) Mrs Prakash Chopra, wife of veteran filmmaker B R Chopra, passed away at Leelavati Hospital in suburban Bandra following a brief illness.
She was about 86 years old and is survived by two daughters and filmmaker son Ravi Chopra, besides her husband.
She was admitted to Leelavati hospital four days ago for the treatment of gangrene of the intestine, family sources said.
Mrs Chopra hailed from Lahore and married B R Chopra in 1940, when the filmmaker was the editor of a magazine 'Cine Herald'. She had written the story of two films -- 'Gumrah' and 'Pati, Patni or Woh', which were produced and directed by her husband under his banner B R Films.
She had also participated in the proposed documentary on the life and times of her illustrious husband, which is being made by Jai Prakash Karnataki, the younger brother of former actress Nanda, by giving extensive interviews on her husband's works and journey in the film industry.
Family and friends visited the B R bungalow at Juhu, a western suburb, to pay their last respects. The funeral will take place in the afternoon at Santacruz crematorium.
Her son Ravi Chopra returned from London last week, after shooting for his upcoming venture 'Babul', which is due for release in Decemeber.
