Deities drinking milk in Meghalaya

Shillong, Aug 21 (UNI) A large number of Hindus thronged the temples in Meghalaya to watch Goddess Durga and God Shiva 'drinking' milk offered by devotees.

The devotees were seen queuing up outside the temples in the city.

Hindu believers, in this predominantly Christian state, called this phenomenon a ''good omen'' for the country.

''Goddess Durga and God Shiva drank the milk when I placed the spoon near their lips,'' Raj Sharma said at Durga Mandir near Lumdiengjri police station area here.

Like Kumar, there are many others, overwhelmed that the dieties were drinking milk from their spoons.
