Congress jittery over support to rally
Jaipur, Aug 21 (UNI): Rajasthan Kisan Sangarsh Samiti today alleged that the state Congress Party is jittery sensing people's overwhelming support to the proposed rally here in favour of former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh.
Rajasthan Kisan Sangarsh Samiti and the Rajasthan Jat Mahasabha are organising a farmers' rally on Aug 23 in protest against the alleged 'humiliation' meted out to Mr Natwar Singh.
Addressing a press conference here today, Samiti president Yashwant Singh Ramu said the Congress is afraid of the ground swell in favour of the farmers' rally and that is why the state Congress leadership's is alleging that the rally is being sponsored by the BJP government. He said it is nothing but their acceptance that the rally is going to be a success.
Mr Ramu said according to the Volcker report, there were two coupons, which were issued to the Congress and to Andaleeb Sehgal respectively. He said people have the right to know what happended to the coupon issued in favour of the Congress Party.
He asked why isn't the same kind of enthusiasm shown to suspend other UPA minister charged with corruption as done with Natwar Singh.
Jat Mahasabha president Rajaram Meel said Natwar Singh was being made a scapegoat by the Congress to save its skin.
