Bandh affects life in Itanagar

Itanagar, Aug 21 (UNI) Life was affected today following a twelve-hour bandh, which started this morning, in the Capital of Arunachal Pradesh.

The bandh was called by All Arunachal Pradesh Donyi Polo Vidya Bhawan Raffle 2006 Ticket Holders Committee (AAPDPVBRTHC) in protest against the draw 'violating' basic norms.

All business establishments downed their shutters and financial institutions, including banks and post offices, and even educational institutions remained closed.

Buses and other modes of transportation were off the road.

Offices also recorded thin attendance in the state capital.

Though there were some stray incidents of stone pelting at different places, there was no report of any damage or arrest.

The change of timing of a lottery draw snowballed into a major issue recently. The AAPDPVBRTHC called the bandh demanding another draw of the lottery.
