4.75 lakh cusecs released from Prakasam Barrage

Vijayawada, Aug 21 (UNI) Authorities released 4.75 lakh cusecs of water till 0900 hrs this morning from the Prakasam Barrage after it received 4.93 lakh cusecs from Nagarjunasagar Reservoir Talking to UNI here, an Irrigation Department official said about 17,726 cusecs of water was discharged into irrigation canals.The full reservoir level (FRL) of the barrage stood at 13.4 feet.

About 5.02 lakh cusecs of water released from Nagarjunasagar at 0600 hrs this morning would reach the Prakasam Barrage by tomorrow.

The flood situation downstream of the barrage will continue to be serious till the inflows to Nagarjunasagar from Jurala and Srisailam Reservoirs came down,he added.

Meanwhile, as many as 4,865 persons were still housed in six relief camps in the city after low-lying areas were flooded.
