Former UP MLA dead

Lucknow, Aug 20 (UNI) Former Uttar Pradesh MLA Nand Ram today died at Muzaffarnagar of old age.

He represented the Charthwal assembly constituency between 1947-1977 and 1977-1980.

Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, condoling his death, said the departed leader had raised social issues in the House and was connected to the people at the grass-roots level.

''He was a popular leader and direct interacted with the masses,'' Mr Yadav said.
