Fake notes and ammunition seized by BSF

Barrackpore, Aug 20 (UNI) Border Security Force held two Bangladeshi youths and seized fake Indian currency notes of at least Rs 65,000 along with two revolvers, a huge cache of ammunition and two mobile phones from Ghozadanga corridor area on the India- Bangladesh international border near Basirhat in North 24 Parganas early today.

The accused were entering India to supply fake notes.

Later, both were handed over to Basirhat police station, according to police.

The accused belonged to Satkshira district of Bangladesh, interrogation revealed.

Following interrogation of the accused, police were in search of a few other members of the gang, who had been operating from this side in the area.

Incidentally, smuggling continued unabated despite strict vigil by the BSF. BSF shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle smuggler at Panitar near Ghojadanga early August 19. The smuggler was trying to cross the border with cattle while BSF opened fire killing him on the spot, BSF source said.

Police sent the body for post-mortem.
