Jaipur, Aug 20: Congress leaders in Rajasthan today demanded the resignation of suspended leader Natwar Singh from the Rajya Sabha and his son Jagat Singh from the state Assembly.

Nothing that since Natwar Singh and Jagat Singh had got their posts on Congress tickets, they should resign, alleging that the father-son duo were working at the behest of the BJP.

Addressing a press conference here, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committe president BD Kalla said the proposed Kisan rally here on August 23 in support of Natwar Singh by the Jat Mahasabha was ''part of a conspiracy to weaken the Congress.'' ''The Jat Mahasabha was only a mask and the real sponsor of the rally is the Bharatiya Janata Party,'' he said, adding that the rally would be ''a big disappointment'' to both Natwar Singh and BJP.

He said it was ironical that the Bharatiya Janata Party which was demanding the resignation of Mr Natwar Singh, then the Foreign Minister after the publication of the Volcker Report has now come to his rescue alleging humiliation of the former diplomat.

Leader of the oppostion leader in the Assembly Ram Narayan Chaudhary said Natwar Singh was only an ''arm chair politician'' and whatever he was today is because of the Nehru-Gandhi family. He challenged Natwar SIngh to contest as election after resigning his post to prove his popularity.

Former minister and party vice president Dr Chandraban, Dr Hari Singh, MLA Mahdev Singh Khandela and Ramlal Jat were among those present on the occasion.
