AP to introduce "online library" in villages

Hyderabad, Aug 20: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced that 'online library' system would be introduced in villages in the state from this year.

Participating in a private programme here, Dr Reddy said 8,000 villages would be connected through online library system during this year, while the remaining villages would be covered by the end of 2009.

The new online library sytem besides facilitating the students, farmers and people to access the information sought for would also reduce the burden on the state exchequer for purchasing books for village libraries in future, the Chief Minister added.

Dr Reddy said the government was committed to provide Information Technology not only for the welfare of the state but also for the benefit of students and farmers.
