Tribal students suspend stir in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 19: The All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) has suspended all forms of agitations regarding their demands in Manipur with immediate effect.

The ATSUM, which had been demanding implementation of schemes meant for welfare of the tribal communities and proper reservation policies, has signed an agreement on suspension of all sorts of agitation.

ATSUM sources said today this was decided following assurance from the Manipur government that the education department would finalise list of all vacancies for posts of teachers and fill them with candidates from SC/ST.
