Rain and thundershowers likely in Arunachal
Itanagar, Aug 19 (UNI) Rain and thunder showers are likely to occur in Arunachal in the next 24 hours.
The state has been reeling under a drought like situation for last few days.
Weatherman said here today that about 30 mm of rainfall was recorded in the state and relative humidity was 90 per cent.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 32 degree Celsius while the minimum was 22 degree Celsius.
Though early morning drizzles brought little respite to the citizens today, drought like situation still continues to haunt Jairampur and Manmao areas under Changlang district and Pasighat under East Siang district.
The farmers in these places had been suffering from crop loss.
Almost all Wet Rice Cultivation (WRCs) and Jhum fields have developed crack.
Lack of rains have affected the paddy farmers and small tea growers in these areas.
Sources said the state as a whole had approximately recorded 50 per cent less rainfall this monsoon.
The farmers, who entirely depend on rainwaters, have no alternative to counter the prevailing situation.
Jairampur Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) M Roy has requested the state government to declare Jairampur and Manmao as drought affected areas in view of the prevailing situation and provide immediate relief to the farmers, sources added.
