Minor raped by constable

Katni, MP, Aug 19 (UNI) A 14-year-old girl has been allegedly raped by a constable at Badwara area in this district, police said today.

''Constable Krishnadutt Pauraha threatened the girl and perpetrated the sexual assault. The girl is seven months pregnant,'' Superintendent of Police Dilip Arya said today.

A case was registered against the accused under the IPC's Section 376. Some new provisions were added to Section 376 in the wake of rape by a policeman at a police station in Mumbai two years back.

Under the new provisions, the accused constable could be get life imprisonment.

The accused was absconding.
