40-year-old killed in apparent robbery case

New Delhi, Aug 19 (UNI) A 40-year-old women was allegedly bludgeoned to death at her Sultanpuri residence in North-West Delhi.

Saroj (40) was found lying bleeding from the head on the staircase at her Pootkalan Gaon in Sultanpuri area yesterday by her elder son Deepu (24) who works with a courier company, according to sources.

She was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, where she was declared ''brought dead''.

Deepu later said he came to know about the incident when his neighbour called him to inform that blood was trickling from the staircase of his first floor house.

He also said later he found a stone with blood stains in the room. Blood spots were also found on the pillow cover.

Police later said it seemed to be a case of robbery as the ornaments Ms Saroj was wearing were found missing.

While her second son Sonu (18) was studying in school Saroj's husband Nathu Ram works as a carpenter.
