Unidentified persons kill Yadavarao Shikhre at Washim

Akola, Aug 18 (UNI) Former BJP MLA Yadavrao Shikhre was brutally murdered by some unidentified persons at his residence at Washim.

Police today said the deceased was alone in the house late last night, when the unknown persons forcibly entered into the house and allegedly stabbed him with sharp weapon. At the time of the incident, the other family members had gone to attend a function at Ambad.

He, however, called for help. Hearing his cries, neighbours ran to his rescue, and rushed him to a local private hospital. From there, they immediately shifted him to another hospital, where he died at 0010 hrs, hospital sources said.

Shikhre, who was elected as MLA, had represented the Washim reserved legislative assembly constituency during 1999-2004 on A BJP ticket.

One revolver, belonging to Shikhre, was recovered from the spot.

However, he did not use it during the fatal attack, police said.

No arrest has been made so far, police said, adding that the manhunt has been launched to nab the assailants.
