Raids on to arrest Rail DIG
Muzaffarpur, Aug 18 (UNI) Police conducted raids today to arrest Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rail Ajay Verma following issuance of Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) in connection with a criminal case.
Tirhut range IG Suneet Kumar told UNI on phone that raids were carried out at the residence of relatives and friends of Mr Verma.
He said a copy of the NBW had been sent to senior Superintendent of Police Kundan Krishnan for its execution on priority basis.
Earlier Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of Hajipur Ramsaran Sia Singh had issued the NBW against the DIG. The court had also issued the NBW against Ravindra Giriyak, counsel of Mr Verma.
Police urged before the court to issue the NBW against Mr Verma.
As per the case, a retired principal of Hajipur government high school Rajendra Rai had lodged a criminal case against the DIG and his wife on January 24, 2006. In the supervision report, Tirhut range Inspector General Sunit Kumar exempted Mr Verma's wife.
