'New Bioscience to increase human capabilties'

Jalandhar, Aug 18: President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam today said that a new science -- Intelligent Bioscience -- expected to be developed soon, would lead to disease free, happy and more intelligent human habitat with longevity and high human capabilities.

Speaking at the meeting of Vice Chancellors of various universities of Punjab here this evening, Dr Kalam underlined the importance of convergence of techologies. He said the process of this convergence had already started and now moving towards nano-technology which would replace microelectronics and many fields with tremendous application potential in areas of medicine, electronics and material science.

When nano technology and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) meet, integrated silicon electronics, photonics are born and it could be said that material convergence would happen.

With material convergence and biotechnology linked, a new science Intelligent Bioscience would be born to make human life much happier.

The president pointed out that convergence of bio-nano-info technologies could lead to development of nano robots. Nano robots when injected into a patient would diagnose and deliver treatment exclusively in affected area and then get digested as it is a DNA based product, he added.
