Narayana Murthy to be busybee even after retirement

Bangalore, Aug 18: Life will be the same for IT honcho N R Narayana Murthy even after retirement on August 20 on his attaining superannuation.

''I will continue to do what I have been doing. I am already on the board of some companies...I have joined some more. I travel abroad 20 to 22 days a month, I will continue to do that,'' the software major Infosys Chairman and Chief Mentor told UNI here.

Though he would step down from the executive post of Infosys, he would remain as its non-executive Chairman from August 21.

Mr Murthy was guarded in his response to the invitation of Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy in devoting more attention to the State. ''I will certainly consider it if I get a request and if I have time to contribute. It's a privilege,'' he said, adding that he would have to look into his diary for the next three years.

The IT czar, who stepped down as Chairman of the Bangalore International Airport coming up at Devanahalli, near here, following a comment about his contribution to the project, said that by the time he had quit, the project's financial closure had been achieved.

''I am sure the Swiss people will complete the project ahead of schedule and within the cost.'' But his main worry was whether the city would have good roads in time to connect the airport.
