Molasses worth Rs six lakh seized, eight held

Kolhapur, Aug 18 (UNI) Excise officials today seized six tonnes of illegal molasses worth about Rs six lakh and arrested eight persons in this connection near Hatkanangale tehsil of Sangli district.

Acting on a tip-off that molasses was being transported illegally from Kudachi in Karnataka to Mangaonwadi in Hatkanangale, the officials laid a trap and seized it, excise Inspector N M Hippargi here said.

The truck carrying the molasses has been seized.
