Mizoram govt has no plans to ban Coke sales

Aizawl, Aug 18 (UNI) The Mizoram government will not impose a ban on the sale of Coke or Pepsi despite a hot debate on the issue of health hazards.

Talking to UNI here today, state Health Minister R Tlanghmingthanga said the government has not taken any decision to impose a ban on these soft drinks, as it's consumption is comparatively less in Mizoram than other states due to the climatic condition.

According to Mizoram Chamber of Commerce, the Pepsi-Cola business in the state was not affected despite imposition of ban on selling and consumption of the soft drinks in other states.

Besides this, due to humid weather conditions prevailing in the state, sale of the soft drinks had gone up considerably.

Sanga, a soft drinks salesperson in the capital city said, there was a sudden increase in the sales of Coke and other soft drinks in all the retail shops due to the hot climate.
