Free legal advice to consumers in MP
Bhopal, Aug 18 (UNI) With the objective of protecting consumer rights, a guidance centre has been set up in Madhya Pradesh for providing free legal advice to consumers. Besides, district consumer information centres are being set up with the financial assistance received from the Centre.
Meanwhile, there was a proposal for setting up consumer clubs in schools for spreading awareness among new generation about consumer rights besides inducting a course in this regard in schools was being considered.
Directions had been issued to prepare a proposal to receive grants form the Central Consumers Welfare Fund by the colleges, research centres and other educational institutions to work in this direction.
Meanwhile, the district food supply controllers offices had been declared as the district consumers protection officers, an official release here said today.
Aimed at safeguarding the interest of consumers, awareness camps were being organised for common people in rural areas to inform them about consumer rights.
There was a provision for providing financial assistance from the Central Consumers Welfare Fund for organising such camps in rural areas, the release added.
