Port Blair, Aug 18 (UNI) The remote Indian islands of Andaman and Nicobar is all set to have three districts from today after the inauguration of a new district, which is created after bifurcation of Andaman district.

The new district would be known on 'North and Middle Andaman' while the remaining part of Andaman group of islands would be known as South Andaman, informed Mr V K Mishra, Incharge of Andaman's Information and Publicity unit.

till now Andaman and Nicobar islands were divided into only two districts, namely Andaman district and Nicobar district.

The inauguration function would take place today at 10.00 AM at Mayabunder, the district headquarter of the new district.

The Governor of Mizoram and Administrator, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lt General (Retd), Madan Mohan Lakhora is scheduled to inaugurate the new district.
