Worker found dead in Police station campus
Barrackpore, Aug 17 (UNI) Body of a 34-year old Group-D worker of Barrackpore Cantonment Board was found in the local police station garage at its campus early this morning, police said here.
The victim, Amardeep Valmiki, was earlier found loitering in front of the police station at Sadarbazar and searcing his bi-cycle in a drunken condition, when night patroling part of the police station asked him to return home late at night.
Police informed the board office at about 0630 hrs this morning about the death of its employee.
Meanwhile, a large number of Group-D workers assembled at the Barrackpore police station and expressed their resentment alleging that Amardeep alias Pappu was killed in police atrocities and his body was left in the garage as if he took shelter there in the night being unconscious consuming liquor.
Employees of the board and Pappu's wife demanded proper inquiry into the death of a government employee working in the board for about 15-years. Police station authority, however, denied allegation and registered an unnatural death case.
Body was sent for post mortem. No comment was available from the cantonment board as its Executive Officer N Reddy remained out of station.
