UP hikes prize money for excellence in Urdu

Lucknow, Aug 17 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today announced to award state employees for their excellence in Urdu literature and hiked the award money by almost 10 times.

The decision was taken by the state cabinet, which met here under the chairmanship of chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Under the Rajya Karamachari Sahatiya Sansthan, the Bhasha department would select two literary personalities for dedication to Urdu. Rs 51,000 would be given to each of the two awardees -- one for prose and another poetry.

Similarly, the government hiked prize money given to employees for their contribution to Hindi from present Rs 10,000 each to Rs 51,000.

Now, two employees/officers would recieve awards for outstanding performance in Hindi literature of Rs 51,000 each from the existing award of Rs 5,000 each.

The state government hiked the amount give to the Sansthan for holding literary functions from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000.
