UP hikes amount of advances to state employees

Lucknow, Aug 17 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today decided to hike the advance ceiling amount given to state employees, making it at par with central employees taking into consideration the Fifth Pay Commission report.

Briefing newsmen about the cabinet meeting, state Chief Secretary Naveen Chandra Bajpai said the government had revised the advance amount given to state employees for house construction, house repair or extension, house purchase, vehicle purchase and bicycle purchase.

Now, an employee would be eligible for a maximum advance of Rs 7.5 lakh for house construction against the earlier ceiling of Rs 2.5 lakh, while for extension and repair work, they can get upto Rs 1.8 lakh, which was earlier Rs 60,000.

The employees would continue to enjoy the rebate of 2.5 per cent on interest, if they make the repayment on time.

In another decision, the government approved high quality construction work at two proposed medical colleges at Jalaun and Kannauj, where the government had already sanctioned Rs 200 crore for the purpose.

The government also decided to continue the services of eight teaching staff in state medical colleges, who had been appointed on the High Court direction even after being overaged.

Mr Bajpai said the government had to decide the fate of these eight professor/readers/lecturers after the HC rejected their petition.
