Tripura health depat doubts Pepsi, Cola's claims

Agartala, Aug 17 (UNI) Tripura Health Department has expressed doubts over the claims of soft drink giants Pepsi and Coca Cola that their products are safe and consumable.

A health department official told UNI that the soft drinks companies had been repeatedly claiming that their products were tested in laboratories.

The official said it should be investigated whether this laboratories followed the rules and regulations of the government.

''Since we do not have the facilities for testing all sorts of food stuffs and areated drinks, the government is trying to import the necessary equipment to test the content,'' the official further informed.

Some machineries have already arrived in the state and is expected to be installed shortly, besides, a few persons were trained to carry out the tests on various food stuff and drinks.

''The state government will decide whether to take action against the soft drink giants after testing the products in laboratories," informed the officials.
