Topalov to take on Kramnik for World Championship
Moscow, Aug 17 (UNI) The much anticipated World Championship match between Veselin Topalov and Vladimir Kramnik will go ahead after Russian President Vladimir Putin assured FIDE of all possible assistance to organise the event.
FIDE had not released any details of the match which was announced in April this year. However, the world number one Bulgarian and the Classical World Chess Champion Russian are all set to take on each other after FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met Mr Putin a week ago.
Ilyumzhinov briefed the Russian President on the preparations for the match and was assured by Mr Putin of all necessary assistance for organising the match.
