Team India to undergo dope tests before CT

Mumbai, Aug 17 (UNI) The full Indian squad which will take part in the Singapore-Malaysia tri-series in September as well as the ICC Champions Trophy in October-November, will have to undergo a dope test, the BCCI, said here today.

Board Secretary Niranjan Shah said the urine samples of all the players selected would be taken and then sent to either Malaysia or Bangkok for the dope test.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has definite guidelines which makes dope testing mandatory for any tournament organised under its banner at laboratories recognised by WADA (World Anti Doping Agency).

Meanwhile, Mr Shah also said the teams for the tri-series in Malaysia (September 12-24) and the 10-nation Champions Trophy would be selected on the same day either on September five or six.

India has already announced a 30-member probables list and will prune it down to 14 either on September 5 or 6.

Both the teams would be selected on the same day because the list of the 14-member squad for the Champions Trophy needs to be sent to the ICC by September 7, Mr Shah explained.
