Surrendered MLA was granted bail: Speaker

Hyderabad, Aug 17 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy today informed the House that Congress legislator K Surekha had surrendered before a court in Warangal and was subsquently released on bail.

Even as Opposition party members stormed towards the Speaker's podium and staged a sit-in protest, the Speaker said, ''Ms Surekha surrendered before the First Additional Magistrate Court in Warangal on August 3 and was granted bail subsequently''.

The court had issued summons to Ms Surekha, wife of former naxalite Konda Murali, on a case filed by the Warangal police against her for leading a dharna organised by Congress workers demanding the release of one Nalgonda Ramesh picked up by the police.
