Sringeri receives 12 cm rain

Bangalore, Aug 17 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hours here today.

Monsoon was active over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at many places North Interior Karnataka.

Very Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Kalasa 16; Kollur, Jayapura 15 each; Mudigere, Agumbe 14 each; Belthangadi 13.

Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Sringeri 12; Yellapura 11; Bhagamandala 10; Hosanagar, Thirthahalli, Kammardi, Balehonnur 9 each. Mudibidre, Linganamakki 8 each; Karkala, Londa, Koppa, Sakleshpura 7 each.

Other rainfall amounts (cm): Gerusoppa, Joida, Kadra, Dharmasthala, Napoklu 6 each. Bhatkal, Siddapura, Somwarpet 5 each.

Forecast valid until Saturday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at many places over Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Bulletin: Moderate to heavy rain likely to occur at most places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Shimoga, Chikmagalur and Kodagu districts and at many places over Belgaum district. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at many places over Bidar and Hassan districts and at a few places over remaining districts of the State.

Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka during next 48 hours. Heavy rain may also occur at isolated places over Belgaum district during the same period.

Fisheries Warning: Strong onshore winds mainly from Westerly to North-westerly direction speed occasionally reaching 45 to 55 kmph likely along off Karnataka coast during the next 24 hours.

Outlook for subsequent two days: Increase in rainfall is expected over North Interior Karnataka and No significant change is expected over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

Forecast for Bangalore: Generally cloudy. One or two spells of light rain. Strong surface winds gusty at times.
