Rupee strong by 15 paise closes at 46.43/45 USD
Mumbai, Aug 17: Indian rupee today grew strong by fifteen paise to close at Rs 46.43/45 per US Dollar compared to the previous close of Rs 46.58 per US Dollar, the gain largely due to strong Asian markets and low crude price which led Indian bourses to finally close in the positive, a trader in the money market said.
Earlier, rupee opened at Rs 46.51/53 per US Dollar and in the mid morning session traded at 46.48/49/US Dollar.
RBI today fixed the Reference Rate at Rs 46.46/US Dollar compared to the previous rate of 46.55 per US Dollar.
The six month forward premia was fixed high at 1.38 per cent and the one year forward premia was also fixed high at 1.33 per cent.
The rupee performance against other currencies however, was not so good, against euro it was down at Rs 59.77 (59.71), against yen it was down at Rs 40.25 (40.10), however, against pound sterling it was up at Rs 88.04 (88.30).
