PSU workers to get salary arrear before Dussehra

New Delhi, Aug 17: The Centre today said the employees of those PSUs, which have not disbursed salaries for the past six months, will get the arrears before Dussehra (in October).

"The concerned file is moving fast," Heavy Industries Minister Santhosh Mohan Dev told the Lok Sabha during Zero Hour.

The minister's reply came in response to a submission by BJP member Ananth Kumar on the crisis facing the India Telephone Industries (ITI)where its 80,000 employees working in its five units were not getting salary since May.

He said though the ITI was the telecom giant, the government was not taking any step to provide a level playing field.

Mr Kumar said the trade union leaders of the Bareli unit of the ITI had represented their woes to Congress President and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who represents Rae Bareli in Lok Sabha.

He was supported by CPI(M) leader Basudeb Acharya.
