Prior permission necessary to install Ganesh idols

Hyderabad, Aug 17 (UNI) The city police has instructed the organisers and the public to obtain prior permission in writing from the Divisonal Assistant Commissoners of Police concerned before installing Ganesh idols.

The directions has been issued to public and the organisers as a regulatory measure to maintain peace, a release from the police said here today.

The 11-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival begins from August 27. The festival would conclude on September six, by taking the idols in a procession for immersion.

The organisers seeking permission for installation of idols should furnish a no objection certificate from the owner of the premises or land irrespective whether it was private, government Municipal or trust property.

Installations would be permitted only at places where it would not cause obstruction to free flow of traffic and where there was no threat to public peace and order, the release added.
