Oppn forces adjournment of House for the day

Hyderabad, Aug 17: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker K R Suresh Reddy today adjourned the House for the day as the Opposition persisted with their demand for an immediate discussion on the flood situation in the state.

When the House re-assembled after a brief adjournment on the issue, the Opposition members staged a noisy protest over the Speaker's decision disallowing the adjournment motions of the TDP, CPI, CPM, BJP and the AIMIM on the matter.

Even as the Speaker offered conduct of the House proceedings by a Panel Speaker to facilitate Business Advisory Committee to meet immediately to fix the time for discussion on the paramount issue, the Opposition refused to budge and shouted slogans in the well of the House to press their demand.

As the Opposition refused to relent, the Speaker announced the postponement of all questions slated for the day.

Mr Reddy also announced all the papers to be tabled had been deemed to have been placed in the House and abruptly adjourned the proceedings for the day.
