Nuclear fusion could play key role in solving energy problems: Kalam

Jalandhar, Aug 17 (UNI) President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam today said that emerging technology of nuclear fusion would play key role in solving energy problems.

Interacting with students of Kanya Mahavidyalaya here this evening Dr Kalam said that presently most of the nuclear reactors are based on nuclear fussion technology and presently India is generating 5000MW to 7000MW power by this nuclear fussion technology.

He said India alone would require to generate about 20,000 to 30000MW power by 2020 and this requirement could be catered by nuclear reactors.

He said that in the next 10 years research based on fusion of Helium-3 would go up and this is likely to solve the energy problem in the future.
