'No proposal to increase amount under MPLADS'

New Delhi, Aug 17: Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation G.K. Vasan said today the financial performance of MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme has been good but there is no proposal to increase the amount of Rs two crore per member of parliament.

District authorities use MPLADS funds on the works recommended by MP, irrespective of political party he belongs to, he told the Rajya Sabha during Question hour.

No instance of total neglect of MPLADS implementation by district administration has come to the ministry's notice, he added.
