Narayana Murthy joins TiE Global Board
Bangalore, Aug 17: India's IT icon and IT major Infosys Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy will join the Board of Trustees of TiE Inc (Global), a world-wide network of entrepreneurs and professionals dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship.
TiE, one of the largest entrepreneurial organisations, had 44 chapters in nine countries and a membership base of over 12,000.
The TiE Board of Trustees (BOT) in their recently conducted Board meeting were delighted to induct Mr Murthy into the Board, TiE said in a release here.
''We're delighted to have an icon and role model like Mr Murthy join our Board as a trustee and are looking forward to his wisdom and vision to help us take TiE to the next level of helping entrepreneurs and industries meet the changing needs of the business world,'' the release said, quoting TiE Global Chairman Apurv Bagri.
Mr Murthy had been a strong supporter of TiE since its inception in 1992 and had a long association with the organisation by way of his presence at various functions as a keynote speaker and panelist.
He had also hosted Microsoft chief Bill Gates at the TiE Forum in New Delhi. Recently Mr Murthy along with Mr K V Kamath, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank Limited, hosted a meeting of the TiE India Advisory Board in Bangalore.
Accepting his appointment, Mr Murthy said he had seen the evolution of TiE from very close quarters over the past few years and was now looking forward to working with ''an exceptional group of individuals'' who weree part of a truly global network. ''With a network of chapters across a number of countries, TiE is well positioned to continue its growth trajectory and is well poised to make an impact on economic development.''
