Metro engineer killed by train, another injured
New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) A metro engineer was killed and another injured when they were hit by a train while repairing signal cables between the Shahdara and Welcome Stations this afternoon.
27-year-old Section Engineer Indermohan Srivastava died and 22-year-old Junior Engineer Purshottam Priyadarshi fractured his right arm when a train hit them around 1230 hrs while reparing signal cables, Delhi Metro Rail Corp spokesperson said.
Mr Priyadarshi was admitted GTB Hospital at Shahdara.
Mr Srivastava was declared Dead On Arrival.
The Director (Operations) Raj Kumar, General Manager (Operations) O H Pandey and senior metro officials had rushed to the site of the incident.
A high-level inquiry had been ordered by DMRC in this connection.
The enquiry committee would consist of three officials of the rank of general manager.
Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety had also been informed about the incident.
