LS condemns Imphal grenade attack
New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) The Lok Sabha today condemned the grenade attack on Iskcon temple complex in Imphal, killing five people and injuring 50 on the occasion of Janmashtami yesterday.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Dr Meinya Thokchom, who represents Inner Manipur in the Lower House, asked the members to condemn in one voice the dastardly act which took place at a place of worship.
Mr Mani Charenamei (IND) said the government should inform the house as to who were responsible for the terror act on an auspicious day.
He said powerful grenades were thrown inside the complex of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) where thousands of ecstatic devotees were offering prayers on the occasion of Janmashtami.
Shiv Sena member Chandrakant Khaire asked the government to make clear if it had received any lead regarding Pakistani link to the incident.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said the house should condemn the incident.
