LFRD to set up Footwear complex at Budge Budge
Kolkata, Aug 17 (UNI) Leather Forum for Research and Development, a non-govermental promotional organisation for leather industry, has chalked out a blue print for integrated infrastructural development of leather footwear industry at a cost Rs 30 crore.
Highlighting the basic feature of the time bound project LFRD general secretary Ashoke Sen informed reporters here today that they had already received necessary nod from the Union commerce and Industry ministry for setting up of the first ever totally integrated footwear complex and a rural footwear service centre in West Bengal within next 18 months at a total cost of Rs 12,25 crore.
While the remaing amount would be sepnt for construction in setting up a state-of-the-art and R&D facility centre and a non-leather footwear cluster.
Mr Sen said that they had already applied for land and the state industry ministry had agreed to provide them 10 acres of land for the first two projects at Budge Budge in South 24 Pargaans.
