Lawyers strike enters 49th day
Jammu, Aug 17 (UNI) The lawyers of Jammu expressed their determination to continue the indefinite agitation till their demand of transfer of high profile sex scandal cases for fair trial outside Srinagar, was fulfilled.
Meanwhile, the indefinite strike of lawyers continued consecutive 49th day today. The judicial work in local bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court and other lower courts here have remained paralysed due to strike.
Lawyers of Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) and the other five districts of Jammu divisions, were present in the court but did not participate in the courts proceedings.
The lawyers started an indefinite strike on June 28 against denial of right of defence and threat issued to lawyers in Srinagar while representing their clients.
Ved Raj Wazir, the president of Jammu Bar Association (BAJ) told to UNI that their general body has rejected the Chief Justice's request to call off the strike and resume work. ''We will not resume our work till our demand is accepted,'' he added.
