K'taka launches innovative prog for development of villages

Bangalore, Aug 17 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has introduced a new innovative programme, 'Nanna Ooru' or 'My Village' project for comprehensive development of villages in the state, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister C M Udasi informed today.

Talking to reporters here, he said the government had already issued a circular to all the Gram Panchayats on August four asking to collect data of those who desire to contribute voluntarily for the alround development of their villages.

He said people, including NRIs, who want to contribute for the growth of their villages were welcome to do in fields like education, health and infrastructure. The scheme would be implemented under the supervision of the government to avoid any irregularities, he added.

The donors would be provided a rebate under the Income Tax Rule, he said, adding that the state government would write to the Centre in this regard.
