Interim govt only after Maoists arms management: PM
Kathmandu, Aug 17 (UNI) Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said the Maoists would not be included in the government until the issue of arms managament is resolved, media reports said.
''It would make no sense to bring the Maoists with the arms they are carrying into the political mainstream. How can we rush to interim government and the constituent assembly without managing the Maoist's arm,'' state run The Rising Nepal quoted Mr Koirala as saying.
The government and the Maoists have agreed on the management of the both the armies through the supervision of the United Nations until the election of the constituent assembly to write a new constitution.
Maoists want the suspension of monarchy from the new interim constitution being drafted at present before the election of the constituent assembly.
However, Prime Minister Koirala said the ceremonial monarchy should be given place in democracy.
