Girl raped, murdered in Mizoram

Aizawl, Aug 17 (UNI) A 14-year old girl from Kawrtethawveng, a village in Mamit district of Mizoram along the Tripura border, was allegedly raped and then brutally murdered.

The victim, Lalrempuii was alone in her house located in a remote part of the village when the incident took place, police here said today.

The victim's brother sounded an alarm on finding the house in a mess and his sister missing.

The victim was found in a field 30 metres away from the house with her neck broken, police added.

It is believed that the girl was dragged in the fields, raped and then killed there.

The residents of the village today took out a procession condemning the crime.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two people in this connection for questioning.
